A 17-year-old girl was killed and three others were injured (one critically) in a car accident on the Ronald Reagan Memorial Toll way in DeKalb, according to State Police.

They were traveling west on the Reagan Toll way when the driver lost control of the vehicle for reasons still unknown at 11 p.m., on Tuesday. The vehicle went through a center median and crossed into eastbound traffic before coming to rest in a ditch, according to an Illinois State Police Toll way District Manager.

Two of the four vehicle occupants were ejected from the car during impact - two men were walking around when officials arrived and two women were lying in the grass.

A 17-year-old girl was killed while the other female was airlifted to Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb where she is listed in critical condition.

The two males did not suffer serious injury in the accident. The cause of the accident is still unclear at this time while officials investigate.
