A truck accident in Wayne County, on Thursday afternoon left a man uninjured but shaken up.

The man, of Mt. Erie, was driving a Kenworth tandem dump truck when the truck brakes failed on Pounds Hollow Road next to the intersection of Illinois 1, in Gallatin County.

He told police he was able to gear down enough to avoid going through the T-intersection, but still needed to avoid traffic. His dump truck turned over and came to rest just east of Illinois 1 with flames coming from it.

The driver was able to exit the overturned vehicle safely. The accident is still being investigated by Illinois State Police.
